James Barcelona, Senior Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions, for ProQuest Information and Learning, is responsible for managing and negotiating the identifying, closing and integrations of acquisitions, as well as key strategic alliances.
Barcelona joined ProQuest Information and Learning in 1994 as general counsel. In 1999, he was appointed vice president of Business Development. He has also served as interim head of Human Resources and general manager of the reseller business and ProQuest Archiver.
Previously, Barcelona was general counsel for more than eight years at Information Dimensions Inc. (IDI), where he also served as international business liaison to European operations and the director of Human Resources. Prior to IDI, Mr. Barcelona worked as a programmer/analyst and a middle school science teacher.
Barcelona is a licensed attorney in both Michigan and Ohio; and holds licensure to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the Michigan Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association, American Bar Association, and American Corporate Counsel Association.
Barcelona received his BS from Ohio University - Athens, his master's degree in education from Wright State University, and his JD from Capital University Law School in Columbus.
